Antique reclaimed sandstone cobblestone – the option for color beyond the grays of granite!

What is the difference between SANDSTONE and GRANITE cobblestone from our Historic European Cobblestone’s antique reclaimed collection?

Europe is famous for its natural stone quarries. Old historic cobblestone was produced from a variety of these, but the two stone types most utilized were granite and a very hard sandstone. Sandstone’s natural color range is gorgeous, in warmer grays, browns and tans. This is an extremely tight-grained stone, as hard and durable as granite and has been used for centuries for street paving and for buildings. We reclaim this beautiful sandstone cobblestone in a tremendous variety of sizes and import directly from Europe. It is suitable in all freeze/thaw conditions!

The sandstone cobblestone in the Historic European Cobblestone collection offers not only a distinct color option – but also a different surface presentation. Antique sandstone cobblestone – when compared to granite, has a more level, foot-friendly surface which provides a suitable choice for walkways and patios as well as driveways and motor courts.

Both types of old cobbles are authentic reclaimed, antique (100-400 year old) cobblestone and have all of the character of worn patina found only by virtue of age and exposure to weather, foot traffic, horse, carriage and in some cases the automobile. Both cobblestones are available in six sizes! And as a finishing touch, we offer reclaimed antique CURB which offers the classic border for a cobblestone driveway!
