Gorgeous colors and durability with charming porphyry pavers from Mexico

Our client selected beautiful porphyry paving stone for their driveway in Northern California. Two sizes were selected: a 4” x 4” x 2” to 3” for a sand base installation and 4” x 4” x 1-1/2” to 2” for the section that was set on concrete with mortared joints.

Porphyry stone is a type of volcanic, igneous rock which, along with granite and other rock formations, make up approximately 95% of the world’s “crust.”  It is comprised of over 70% silica, about 14% alumna, 8% alkali and small percentages of iron, calcium and magnesium.

Porphyry pavers have high wear resistance and surface regularity that allows comfortable foot travel. These pavers have an even, yet rough surface, which maintains a non-slippery property its whole life. They are ADA compliant –  making it an ideal choice for commercial and residential use alike.  Porphyry is unaffected by freezing and thawing, and because of its high resistance to chemicals, it is particularly recommended for public areas, including plazas, sidewalks, pool decks, fountains and parks.

Porphyry stone is perfect for a driveway! Notice the well-executed installation, with very tight, staggered joints consistently applied throughout! This beautiful stone driveway, its colors and appearance will last as long as the home itself.
